MXL AC404 USB Conference Microphone

Purchased this because my teammates work in various countries and we communicate in small conference rooms using Cisco VOIP speaker phones. Anyone remote would often complain the mic on the speaker phone was not loud enough and they couldn't hear everything being said, especially with low-talkers and people that like to sit away from the table.

Now we conference call using Google Talk or Skype...I toss the mic on the conference room table and everyone can hear extremely well. The Mic also has a speaker port so when you plugin into the USB port, the pc will see both a new MIC and a new Speaker....

Planning on ordering another mic to keep at home for conference calls with friends and family.

I use this mic to capture the voices from meetings in a conference room. I run Camtasia to capture the video portion of a slide or other computer/projected presentation and the audio portion from the mic and then encode it and store the movie on our corporate file server for future viewing. The conference table is 30' long. Since the mic has 180 degree coverage, I place the mic close to one end of the table pointing towards the other end. It is very sensitive and has good frequency response. I adjust the record level using the computer audio mixer controls or the audio level control in Camtasia. Due to the wide frequency response range of this mic, it will also pick up AC noise, but I use the filters build into Camtasia to get rid of that frequency range. You could also use any other goood audio editing program such as Audacity (no cost)to do this. Highly recommended.

Guitar For Dummies Acoustic Guitar Starter Pack

Having little to no knowledge about guitars, I did some basic research on guitar packages before deciding to purchase this set. I'm older and wasn't sure if I really wanted to go through the work to learn the guitar, but I did want to try, so I was looking for a nice "all in one" package to get me started without spending lots of money.

This set arrived promptly, was well packaged (the guitar was well padded by styrofoam and cardboard) and exactly as advertised. The book is much smaller than I was expecting based on the "...for dummies" series, but it seemed do-able. Although I had to put in 4 stars for the overall package, I'll briefly review each piece of the set for better clarity.

Guitar bag - 1 star, functional to keep the dust off the guitar.
Electronic tuner - 4 stars, works easily but the batteries were difficult to load without seeming to have broken the unit.
Book - 3 stars, an ok book & CD to start with, but very little depth.
Guitar - 4 stars, sounds good but a little tough for the beginner.
Picks - nice...

Some of the things I've learned about the guitar over the last few months: The strings sit somewhat high above the frets so it takes quite a bit of pressure to push them down. The strings that came with the guitar were most likely "ultra light" so moving to "light" was a bit of surprise, it made fretting the strings even harder. The pick guard is showing wear as is the fretboard under the strings nearest the nut. The guitar sounds good, but I wish I had gotten one with strings closer to the frets.

I also wish the pack had included a guitar strap and a better instruction set, but for the price, I feel it was a really good deal. I'm a guitar noob so my opinion is that of one who is completely new to the guitar.

I got these mics thinking they would last if I took really good care, but noooo, only after 3 uses, one of the mics needs to be recharged every 2 minutes, and the power on the console won't stay on. I had to tape it down in order to make it stay on. And all this happend only 7 days after I could return it.

I like this kit included 2 microphones. It makes it easier to increase crowd participation, without giving up my mic, and maintain control of the event. The wireless system works good over all, nice voice reception and limited cross-over between mics. In my opinion, this is a pretty good system worth the money. 

received the product really quickly upon order. Everything appears to be working exactly as intended. one slight nit, like another reviewer mentioned, is that even though this is supposed to be stackable, the chargers' are right on top of the unit, so you can't actually stack anything, and you need to leave enough room on top of the unit in order to fit the entire length of the mic. not a problem for me since I don't need to put anything on top of it. a suggestion would be to have a separate charger.

Jasmine By Takamine S34C NEX Acoustic Guitar

First the bad: this guitar came with low quality strings that were corroded and unplayable in my opinion. The first thing that I did before even playing it was to change the strings.

If you are a beginner this may be a problem unless you know someone who can do it for you. If not, I suggest you purchase a string winder (B0002E1G5C), a set of good strings (B0002H09RU) and a guitar tuner (B003VWJ2K8.) Find a web page or YouTube video that explains how to change the strings on an acoustic guitar. However you may get a guitar with a shiny set of new strings that sound great and this won't be a problem. But you will need the stuff that I mentioned later if you keep up with your playing. Actually if you are a beginner you will need a guitar tuner -- buy one with your guitar. You will never sound like you are making progress with an out-of-tune guitar.

The good: This is a surprisingly nice guitar for very little money. I needed a "crasher" guitar that I wouldn't feel guilty if I bumped it around and a second Takamine guitar for a gift. I purchased this along with the slightly less expensive Jasmine By Takamine S35 Acoustic Guitar (B0002F58TG). This guitar has a little better sound than the S35 -- deeper bass and crisper highs. Also different is the shape of this guitar's body which looks sleeker and cooler than the more traditional S35. Also this guitar has a cutaway for access to the higher frets and on my guitar the intonation up there was not bad.

I would just like to say that when it comes to music sound quality, I'm spoiled. I have a sound system in my car that cost me a few K's, and as unfair as it may be, I compare all sound sources to it.

Of course, one cannot expect in-ear headphones to sound exactly like a car's sound system, but one can expect for them sound a little like it. At the $150 and below price range, these are the ones!

I've tried many, many in-ear headphones. Klipsch S4's, Monster Turbines, Audio Technica ATH-CKS70's and the Sony MDR-EX300's just to name a few. Let me say that each of the in-ear's just mentioned perform admirably, but, the SE215's do what all the others do well, in one package. The high's of the S4's? Check. The bass of the Turbine's and CKS70's? Check. The balanced sound of the EX300's? Check. Add to these features the replaceable cable, the perfect seal foam tips, durable construction, great looking transparent enclosure and what can I say? Ladies and gentlemen, I think I have found a keeper.

Buy these. It will be the best $100 you will ever spend. For those of you still using the stock earbuds that come with portable music players, listen to the SE215's and you will never go back!
